The World in the Hands Foundation was established in February 2021 with the aim of enhancing the quality of life of people with visual and hearing disabilities, particularly deafblind persons.
About us
We provide support for individuals with sensory disabilities, promoting their social activation and integration. Our activities include workshops, trips, and meetings. We run the Deafblind Club in Warsaw, which brings together persons with visual and hearing disabilities from the Masovian Voivodeship. We also offer personalised support to empower our beneficiaries to lead independent lives.
We provide training for professionals, including volunteers and guide-interpreters, equipping them with the skills to effectively support persons with visual and hearing disabilities in tasks related to mobility, communication, and daily activities.
Volunteers and guide-interpreters play an important role in the life of our organisation by helping deafblind people to move around freely and communicate with those around them, including when visiting the doctor, at the office or at events organised by the Foundation.
We raise awareness about deafblindness, aiming to sensitise the public to the needs of deafblind individuals and create a more inclusive environment for persons with visual and hearing disabilities.
Our Team
Our team comprises individuals with extensive experience in working with deafblind individuals, acquired—among others—at the Association for the Welfare of the Deafblind (AWDb). We collaborate with a dedicated team of volunteers and specialists, including guide-interpreters and interpreters of Polish Sign Language. The Deafblind Club in Warsaw continues the longstanding tradition of regular meetings previously organised by the Masovian Regional Unit of the AWDb.
Financing of the Foundation
The Foundation relies on community service and individual contributions, with only a portion of activities funded by project grants. Each donation helps us provide ongoing support and expand the reach of our activities to meet the needs of deafblind individuals.
The Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation registered in the National Court Register under the number 0000885468. Our activities are nationwide, with a primary focus on Warsaw and the Mazovian Voivodeship.
