There are an estimated 5,000 to 7,000 deafblind people living in Poland. Until 2019, the only nationwide organisation working for people with simultaneous visual and hearing impairment was the Association for the Welfare of the Deafblind (AWDb).

AWDb was founded in 1991 and its activities were carried out by 13 Provincial Units. The Units ran Regional Deafblind Clubs and various local activities. On 28 September 2019, the TPG went into liquidation, which for many deafblind people from all over Poland marked the end of previous activities, joint meetings and the support received.

The World in Hands Foundation continues the tradition of meetings previously held by the Masovian Regional Unit of AWDb. Although the Foundation is a nationwide organisation, our activities are currently focused on Warsaw and the surrounding area.
